Finally back in Australia

We love Australia SO MUCH!! haha! We have seriously missed the blue sky here.... it's like nowhere else! Anyway, turns out we can finally make it to Townsville by tonight - hurrah!! We get in just after 7pm at night. Patty (my favourite Qantas lady EVER!) in Sydney worked some magic and got us onto some flights. Actually, I think it was God.... that's the only way this could have happened. I've been stressing out big time, especially about prac. It's so good to be home and hopefully we'll see you all soon. (hopefully!).

Stranded in London

Current mood: blank

Okay - I haven't got much time on here, but we are stranded in London because of massive flight delays. Our Cathay Pacific flight on Monday left without us for Hong Kong and Australia because our flight from Athens was delayed by 1 1/2 hours. There are no available flights out of London until tonight, and that will get us into Sydney by Saturday morning. Then comes the fun bit!! haha. There are NO FLIGHTS INTO TOWNSVILLE. All of them are booked. So we have to fly to Cairns on Sat night, then fly to Townsville on Sunday morning. The only ray of hope is that we may get a flight from Sydney to Cairns on Saturday morning and be picked up by Jordan's parents in the car. Still no word on whether I am able to postpone my prac by a little bit. I'm supposed to be in Bowen by Monday morning. Yeah right.

To Grandma and Grandad: don't freak out. Tell Aunty Mary not to freak out!! :) We are completely fine. I think everyone wants to get to Australia (or the south pacific) and hence no flights. It's also the end of the school holidays this weekend which explains the lack of available seats on flights in Australia. We are definitely flying out tonight at 10.15pm on a Qantas flight which arrives in Sydney Saturday morning at 5.45am. From there it's a little unsure yet but we will be home Sunday morning at the latest (at this stage if all flights run on time). If anything changes, we'll try our darndest to let you know.

Still in Athens

Current mood: dorky
Category: Travel and Places

Still in Athens not doing too much. Today we caught another little toy train up to the Acropolis. (Of course, when I say toy train, I mean a little train that does indeed fit people inside). Very impressed with how it got us through some very narrow streets!! At the Acropolis we saw the Parthenon and a temple that I don't know the name of. I have to do some research. It's very difficult to know exactly what you're looking at when you don't have a guide to tell you or you haven't done your research!! After that we drove past (or choo-chooed past??) the President's house and the Botanic Gardens, and saw some HILARIOUS soldiers (although when I say soldier I think tough... these guys (they have a special name but I don't know what it is) wear DRESSES with POM POMS on their shoes and their marching looks like a ballet recital!! hahahahahahaha. When we get home you guys have to see the video. So so funny. Anyway we had gyros (like kebabs... but open and pronounced 'yi-ross') for lunch and are now ready for a siesta! We really haven't been doing too much of anything while we've been here... just wandering around, drinking Starbucks and playing cards on the roof which is really nice. We are leaving for our marathon plane ride tomorrow, and we're pretty excited to be coming home. Mum & Dad & Lissy - can you msg us to confirm that you'll be picking us up?? hehe. We are unsure of exactly when our flight will be getting in now due to all the terrorist attack stuff in London. Have you guys been hearing about it - I assume you have. Anyway, we have to fly back through Heathrow and the security level there has been elevated to 'critical' which is the highest... we're not sure if our flights are going to be delayed. Please pray for us, also, as we are not sure whether there will be any more attacks? Should be an interesting trip home! See you all soon.
