Day 5 - Sea Day + Phillip Island

Friday 9th Jan, 11.17am

We had such a lazy day yesterday!! It was a sea day and we were heading to Phillip Island. Em, Tris, Jordy and I spent most of the day in our room watching movies and trying to combat sea sickness by lying down. We watched Harry Potter and Enchanted. After that we went for a walk around the ship into the FREEZING wind (!!), and played a bunch of board games – Jenga, Scrabble and cards.

The weather was really cold and a little rainy so we were worried about being warm enough on Phillip Island. We got on the tender at about 6.15 to go from the ship to the jetty at Phillip Is. I was wearing 2 shirts, a cardigan, two scarfs and a jacket as well as jeans and boots and was still cold! Emma was extremely cold. She ended up wearing every single thing that Tristan had in his backpack, plus some. The concrete bleachers that we sat on to watch the penguin parade were cold, but Tris had brought blankets from the ship to sit on to keep our bottoms warm! One of the cutest things during the parade was a little penguin that ran out of the water with his buddies, but they got too far ahead of him and he found himself all aloney on his owney surrounded by a group of seagulls. He got befuddled and waddled very quickly back into the safety of the water by himself. Then, another raft of penguins came to his rescue and they went home all together. The End! :) There were many cute things but that was the sweetest. Got back to the ship at 11.30 and had dinner then to bed.

Today we’re in Melbourne and it is cold! Not as cold as last night but we’re wearing long sleeves and jeans again. We’ve been to Fed Square and Flinders St Station and we’re about to head into the mall. We are in Starbucks using the free wi-fi!
